All Glass Heated Inlet System

Complex mixtures that can not be separated easily by chromatographic methods can sometimes be characterised by high resolution mass spectrometry. The sample needs to be admitted into the mass spectrometer at a constant and consistent rate, whilst the mass spectrometer is scanned across the appropriate mass range. An All Glass Heated Inlet System (AGHIS) offers an introduction method for such samples.

The AGHIS can be fitted onto any mass spectrometer via a glass seal.

On Autoconcept with Mach3Xe data system control and an Autosampler, full automation is possible allowing unattended automation. Valves and the various zone temperatures can be controlled via the data system.

On instruments without a Mach3Xe data system then automatic operation is also possible, the valves are controlled by variable timing controls. Valve opening and closing can also be performed by manual switches. Similarly temperature settings (interface/oven/sample vial and transfer line) are controlled via external controls.

The system can also be fitted with a GC-PAL Autosampler. This allows unattended operation and many samples can be analysed without user intervention.

Combining this with the excellent low eV capability of the Autoconcept allows complex samples such as oil to be analysed in a straightforward and reliable manner.
